BELSCHNER'S COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT SPLITS WEEKEND SERIES WITH CONCORDIA (MICH.)

JOLIET, Ill. - The RV Olivet Nazarene University Tiger Baseball split a four-game weekend series with Concordia (Mich.) following Nolan Belschner's complete-game shutout in the final game of the matchup.

Game Three: Concordia (Mich.) 8, RV Olivet Nazarene 2  

The Tigers fell behind early with the Cardinals scoring all eight of their runs in the first three innings. ONU settled in as Peyton Bovie, Michael Freitas, and Sean Micetich combined for three scoreless innings giving up only two hits and three walks.

Tyler Wheeler put the Purple and Gold on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning hitting a two-run shot. The senior from Graham, Wash. now has five home runs on the year, his third with a man on base.


Game Four: RV Olivet Nazarene 3, Concordia (Mich.) 0

Nolan Belschner went the distance tossing seven scoreless innings giving up only four hits and a walk. The right-handed junior registered four punchouts on the afternoon on route to his first win and first complete game of the year.

Wheeler opened the scoring as his sacrifice fly brought in Robert Jackman in the fourth inning. ONU tacked on two more in the sixth inning as Jordan Almodovar drew a walk with the bases loaded scoring Nolan Luis. The next at-bat scored the third and final run of the ballgame. Dylan Miller hit into a fielder's choice to score Jackman for the second time of the day.

The Cardinal put their lead-off man on base in the top of the seventh inning, but Belschner retired the following three batters to maintain the shutout.
