SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's golf team continued a busy start to its 2025-26 season by placing third at the Battle at Blackthorn hosted by Bethel (Ind.) at the Blackthorn Golf Course Monday and Tuesday.
Mya Jones led the Tigers. The junior from Grand Rapids, Mich., opened with an 80 before closing at 81 to card a 161 and tie for 13th overall.
Lizzie Howard and Taylor Ice, who finished in a tie with one another last week at the Bill Johnson Memorial, fired identical scores to tie for the second consecutive tournament. Howard carded rounds of 80 and 82 to reach 162 while Ice fired back-to-back 81s to hit the number and tie for 15th.
Sophie Burns wrapped the scoring for ONU, taking nine strokes off her second round to card a 171 and place 30th. Amelia Birge was just one shot back at 172 to finish 31st.
ONU carded consecutive rounds of 325 for a final score of 650, good for third place in the 11-team tournament. Host school Bethel (Ind.) won with a 609.
The Tigers will next compete in the Clarke Fall Classic next Monday and Tuesday at the Eagle Ridge South Course in Galena, Ill.
