BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene University lost 1-0 to the University of St. Francis on Tuesday at the Bahr Soccer Facility in the quartefinals of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
Olivet began the match with Meegan Randall in goal, anchoring the defense. Despite an early corner kick opportunity by Sofia Diaz at the 7:11 mark, the Tigers were unable to capitalize. St. Francis broke through with a goal by Charlene Mendoza in the 18th minute, putting the visitors ahead 1-0. Melea Miller's attempt to equalize was saved by Giselle Mata, and the first half ended with St. Francis leading 1-0.
The Tigers maintained offensive pressure throughout the second half, with Diaz delivering three corner kicks and multiple players attempting shots on goal. Marisa Lopez and Emma Daniels each had their shots saved by the Saints' goalkeeper Mata. Despite numerous attempts, Olivet Nazarene could not convert their opportunities into goals. The Tigers were able to earn a corner kick as the final seconds counted down, but they were not able to convert after a flurry in front of the net, leaving the half scoreless. The game concluded with St. Francis securing a 1-0 victory.
Randall made four saves and allowed one goal in her 90 minutes of play. Diaz managed one shot on goal, contributing to the offensive efforts. Lopez recorded three shots, with one being on target, showing her presence in the attack. Daniels also registered two shots on goal.
Olivet's season concludes with an overall record of 9-1-6.
