OLIVET SECURES 108-72 VICTORY OVER INDIANA EAST

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene University (4-2) defeated Indiana University East (1-4), 108-72, at McHie Arena on Saturday, leading by as many as 36 points in the fourth quarter. The Tigers capitalized on turnovers, scoring 45 points off the Red Wolves' 27 turnovers.

The game opened with Ava Mikesell assisting Lindsey Nell on a 3-pointer at 9:07, setting the tone for an early lead. The Tigers extended their advantage further with a three-pointer by Jayden Flagg at 5:35, assisted by Brooklyn Marshall. Throughout the quarter, the Tigers capitalized on their defensive rebounds, securing a total of 15 rebounds, and converted turnovers into points, leading 24-15 at the end of the first quarter.

Olivet gained substantial momentum in the second quarter, extending their lead with a dominant offensive display. Nell initiated a strong start with a layup and a free throw, followed by a steal and another layup, setting the tone early. The team capitalized on turnovers by the Red Wolves, translating them into points with Marshall and Mikesell contributing key baskets, including a three-pointer by Mikesell at 8:05. By the end of the quarter, Olivet held a commanding 64-39 lead, closing the half with a 40-point contribution in the second quarter.

Olivet started the third quarter strong and continued to extend their lead. Nell hit a three-pointer at 9:28, and Mikesell followed with another long-range shot to push the score to 70-41. The team maintained control throughout, with Sikkink contributing a layup and a pair of free throws, and Michael adding a three-pointer at 1:54. Eight different Tigers scored in the third quarter and Olivet led 83-52 heading into the final frame.

Olivet asserted control in the fourth quarter, establishing a decisive edge with a 36-point lead at the 33-second mark, following Mya Skelton's three-pointer. Sikkink played a pivotal role early in the quarter with two free throws and a layup. The Red Wolves were never able to get back in the game and it concluded with Olivet securing a comprehensive victory, finishing with a final score of 108-72.

Sikkink led the team with 22 points, shooting 9 of 12 from the field and adding eight rebounds. Flagg contributed 14 points, including four three-pointers, while also collecting five rebounds. Mikesell added 12 points and distributed seven assists. Nell tallied 13 points and secured five rebounds.

The Tigers hold a 4-2 record following their decisive victory. The Red Wolves now stand at 1-4 on the season after the loss.

Olivet returns to action on Wednesday, Nov 19 in Elgin, Ill., where they will face the Judson Eagles.
