BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (17-2-1, 10-0-0) secured a 1-0 home victory over Judson (IL) (7-8-5, 5-2-3) on Saturday afternoon, with their lone goal coming in the second half.
Olivet Nazarene initiated the match with an early offensive attempt, as Niels Noordhoek's shot was blocked in the opening seconds. Despite multiple efforts, including shots by Maxime Schonenberger and Ali Sillah, the home team was unable to find the back of the net. The defense, led by goalkeeper Cedric Kunzli, successfully thwarted the visitors' attacks, including a notable save at the 15:41 mark against Anthony Cordova. The first half concluded with a scoreless tie, 0-0, as both teams struggled to capitalize on their opportunities.
Olivet broke the deadlock in the second half with a decisive goal by Atjon Thaqi in the 74th minute, assisted by Sillah. This effort put the home team ahead, marking the only goal of the match. Despite several shot attempts by both teams, including a strong defensive save by Kunzli, the hosts maintained their lead. The game concluded with Olivet Nazarene securing a 1-0 victory over Judson.
