TIGERS DROP CLOSE BATTLE WITH FIGHTING SAINTS IN CCAC OPENER

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - Olivet Nazarene University women's tennis came up just short in a narrow 4-3 loss to St. Francis (Ill.) to open conference play, but the Tigers turned in several strong performances across doubles and singles play.

In doubles, Jessica Dakin and Desiree Mofield delivered Olivet's lone win, earning a 6–2 victory at No. 3 doubles. The Tigers were competitive at the top of the lineup as well, with Jori Lambert and Rafaela Luna pushing the Saints' No. 1 pair to a tiebreak before falling 6–7, 8–10. The No. 2 doubles team of Savannah Amatyleon and Lyla Boecher also put up a battle in a narrow 4-6 loss.

Olivet found its stride in singles, picking up three key wins. Lambert set the tone at No. 4 singles with a straight-set victory, winning 6–0, 6–4. At No. 5, Dakin followed up her doubles success with a 6–4, 6–1 win. The Tigers closed out singles play at No. 6, where Carrlene Webb earned a convincing 6–2, 6–0 victory. The Tigers top three singles matches did not go their way though, and the Fighting Saints were able to split the overall singles matches 3-3 to secure the overall victory.
