Hoover, Ala. - The Tigers' baseball team opened its season with a four-game road series at Huntington, showing early power and several late pushes but ultimately dropping all four contests. ONU struck first in the opener when Andrew Mack launched a solo homer. But Huntington answered with big innings in the second and fourth to take Game 1, 12–1.
Game 2 saw the Tigers put together a more consistent offense. Jacob York doubled and scored, while Kydin Horvath and Jude Coursey each drove in runs. Despite keeping Huntington to just three hits through much of the game, ONU fell 6–3.
The Tigers' best start came in Game 3, highlighted by a momentum‑shifting inside‑the‑park home run from Luke Nicholaus. ONU led 3–1 before a five‑run Huntington sixth turned the game around. Connor Janik's two‑run double kept the Tigers close, but they came up short, 7–5.
In the finale, ONU again rallied late. York doubled home a run early and Rost delivered a two‑run single in the seventh to tighten the score. Strong work on the mound from Kai Newman and Aidan Micinski kept ONU in striking distance, but a four‑run sixth lifted Huntington to a 6–3 win.
Throughout the weekend, ONU showed promising moments: power from Mack and Nicholaus, multi‑hit efforts from York, Rost, and Janik, and competitive late‑inning pushes in three of the four games.
