MARTINEZ NETS BRACE, TIGERS ROLL TO 3-1 WIN OVER MORNINGSIDE

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's soccer team overpowered Morningside Friday evening at the Bahr Soccer Facility, outshooting the Mustangs 18-7 to secure a 3-1 victory, their second in a row.

The first half saw Olivet Nazarene seize the early advantage with Adrian Kang Hagman finding the net at the 3:34 mark, capitalizing on a rebound after Daniel Martinez's shot was saved. The Tigers continued to apply pressure, resulting in a second goal by Martinez in the 15th minute, with an assist from Stanley Hooker. Morningside responded in the 34th minute with a goal by Maris Rombeck, but Olivet maintained their lead to end the half 2-1 ahead.

The second half commenced with Olivet maintaining offensive pressure, exemplified early by Gijs Van Den Berg's shot in the 46th minute, which was saved by Morningside's goalkeeper. Despite several fouls committed by Morningside, the Tigers' persistence paid off in the 71st minute when Martinez scored again, assisted by Kai Bucher and Maxime Schonenberger, extending their lead to 3-1. The home team continued to control the game, with Cedric Kunzli making a crucial save off a shot by Morningside's Javier Ruchelli in the 89th minute, ensuring the team preserved its lead until the final whistle.

Martinez scored two goals, including the game-winner, from five shots, three of which were on target. Hagman contributed one goal and took four shots, two on target. Schonenberger provided an assist, adding to his defensive efforts. Bucher also added an assist and attempted two shots.

Olivet Nazarene improves to 4-1-1 overall after the victory. They will conclude their three-game homestand with a match against Indiana Wesleyan Tuesday night.
