BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene (IL) (13-5, 9-1) defeated Indiana South Bend (IN) (13-5, 8-2) 76-67 on Saturday at McHie Arena, in a critical conference matchup, giving the Tigers a current solo lead in the CCAC.
The Tigers opened the game strong, establishing a 9-point lead at 10:19 with a layup by Keagen Holder. Andrew Bennett was instrumental during the half, contributing 8 points, including two 3-pointers and two assists. Despite the Titans tying the game later in the half, the Tigers regained control. The half ended with the Tigers leading 27-23.
The Titans kept pace initially and even led by five points at 16:50, but the home team responded with consistent scoring and defensive stops to regain control. With 2:58 remaining, the game was tied at 60–60 when Eli Edwards took over. Edwards went on a personal 8-0 run to all but end the Titans chances. The game ended with the Tigers winning 76–67.
Mason Wood led the team with 16 points, adding nine rebounds and three steals. Edwards contributed 16 points, converting 6 of 9 field goals and securing four rebounds. Holder posted a strong performance with 12 points and seven assists. Bennett matched the team-high with 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers and dishing out five assists.
The Tigers improved to 13-5 overall and 9-1 in conference play. The Titans stand at 13-5 overall and 8-2 in conference competition.
