SILVIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team competed at one of the top events in the country, the NAIA National Preview, hosted by St. Ambrose at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., Monday and Tuesday.
The Tigers placed 13th among a field of 21 teams, featuring some of the best NAIA golf programs in the country. ONU opened with a 313 before closing with a 318 for a score of 631.
Joseph Luchtenburg led the way for the Tigers, carding the team's best round of the tournament with a four-over 75 Monday. He carded a 78 Tuesday to finish with a 153 and in a six-way tie for 27th.
Jack Rimington backed Luchtenburg by finishing just three strokes back in 42nd. Rimington shot rounds of 77 and 79 for a 156.
Luke Martin and Hunter Trainor showcased their consistency to round out the scoring for ONU. The former fired consecutive rounds of 79 to tie for 52nd while the latter carded back-to-back 82s to tie for 70th. Chris Brown also competed for the Tigers, firing 84 and 85 to place 84th.
ONU will compete in the Clarke Fall Classic next Monday and Tuesday at the Eagle Ridge South Course in Galena, Ill.
