SILVIS, Ill. - Olivet Nazarene University turned in a strong performance to finish second overall in the team standings at the CCAC Men's Golf Championship, posting a 922 (+82).
The Tigers finished the first round in fourth place after posting a 312 (+32). Hunter Trainor led the Tigers in round one with a 76 (+6), which placed him seventh overall after the opening round.
In round two, Olivet gained strokes on the field by carding a 299 (+19). This time, Brock Taylor paced the Tigers with a 73 (+3). Olivet jumped to third place after the second round and was only one shot out of second place going into the final round.
The Tigers could not maintain their strong second-round momentum, but were still able to move up into second place after a 311 (+31) in the final round. For a third straight round, the Tigers had a new leader. Joseph Luchtenburg and Trey Roessler paved the way for Olivet by finishing with a 75 (+5) in the final frame. In the final individual standings, Hunter Trainor concluded the event with a 229 (+19) to finish in sixth place overall and lead the Tigers.
Also contributing throughout the tournament for the Tigers were Chris Brown, Jack Rimington, and Luke Martin.
