UNDERWOOD NAMED TO COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT FIRST TEAM

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Ethan Underwood has been awarded CoSIDA Academic All-District® First Team for the 2021-22 season. The Senior right-handed pitcher was selected for the award for his combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Woodstock, Ga. native achieved a 3.92 grade point average with a conference-best 1.67 earned run average.

Underwood led the Tigers to their third consecutive Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Championship on Monday. His ERA leads the conference and is tied for eighth best in the nation. The starting pitcher has held opposing batters to a .168 batting average while averaging 7.0 strikeouts per game.

The Engineering major's best performance of the season came during the semifinal of the CCAC Tournament in a 5-2 victory over St. Ambrose on May 8. Underwood went the full nine innings allowing no earned runs and only four hits with two walks. He registered his team-leading sixth complete game and 10th win of the year. He was tabbed as CCAC Pitcher of the Week on March 12 for his complete game shutout on the road at Georgetown (Ky.) during non-conference play the week prior.

With the award, Ethan Underwood is now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
