BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) announced on Wednesday morning its selections for men's golf.
The Olivet Nazarene University men's golf program had three selections in two all-conference teams. Elected to the first team was Conor Butts and Kyle Spence while freshman Caleb Stinespring was selected to the second team. Three selections to the All-CCAC list ties a program record for the most all-conference selections in a season.
A native of Champaign, Ill., Butts had a great season for the Tigers. Butts averaged a score of 76 in 21 rounds played. Additionally, Butts saw his best round of a 68 coming in the USF Spring Invitational on April 13th. The Tiger senior finished in the top 10 in four tournaments, placed in the top-three in three tournaments and won the USF Spring Invitational. Butts took second at the CCAC Cup and at the ONU Bill Johnson Fall Intercollegiate. To finish the season, Butts placed eighth in the CCAC Championship. This is the first all-conference honor for Conor Butts.
A native of Coralville, Iowa, Spence earned his second straight All-CCAC nod for the Tigers. This season, Kyle averaged a team-best 72.05 strokes per round and had a season-best round of 70 in the second round at the CCAC Championship on April 25-26th. In addition, Spence posted six top-10 finishes, three top-five finishes and saw his best finish come at the Purgatory Intercollegiate where he finished tied for third. At the CCAC Championship, Spence finished in tied for fifth.
A native of Richmond, Ill. Stinespring was selected to his first all-conference team. This season, Caleb averaged 78.37 strokes per round. In addition, Stinespring saw 10 rounds in the 70s and shot a career-high 69 in the second round of the CCAC Championship on April 25-26th. The Tiger freshman was the clubhouse leader in the championships as well. Stinespring placed in the top-10 twice and saw his best finish come in the CCAC Championship where he finished tied for fifth.
The Tigers capped off their 2021-22 season with a runners-up finish at the CCAC Championship on April 25-26th.
