WHEATON, Ill. – The No. 5 Olivet Nazarene University men's swim and dive team competed in the Wheaton College Invite hosted by the NCAA Division III Wheaton College Thunder on Friday, Dec. 3 through Saturday, Dec. 4. The Tigers finished in third out of six teams in this competitive field which included NCAA DIII opponents Wisconsin-Steven, Wheaton College, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Augustana College, North Central College, and Aquinas College.
Head-lining the weekend for the men was Mason Beall. He tallied two first-place finishes in the 500-yard and 1650-yard freestyle clocking times of 4:41.26 and 16:39.27 respectively. Beall took a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:44.10. The sophomore then swam the anchor leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay which touched in at 7:05.02 to finish third in the event.
Nicholas Klenner was the other swimmer for the weekend with a first-place finish. His time of 1:55.40 in the 200-yard backstroke was good enough for first prize. Klenner took third-place in the 100-yard backstroke clocking in with a time of 52.15. He then swam the first leg of the 400-yard medley relay that finished second touching the wall at 3:25.51.
Alejandro Evreinoff and Timothy Braun both contributed to the 400-yard medley relay swimming the second and fourth legs that came in second. The two went on the garner third-place finishes. Braun swam the first leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay and swam a time of 21.47 in the 50-yard freestyle. Evreinoff competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and finished at 56.09.
Liam Kuiper, Chase Aruskevicius, and Zischan Jenkins each registered individual top-three finishes in the meet.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Tigers will host Davenport and Lewis on Saturday, Jan. 15 in the Perry SLRC. The action is set to start at 11 a.m.
