MARION/HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Head Coach Chris Tudor and the Olivet Nazarene University men's and women's tennis teams opened its 2021-22 seasons on Friday.  The men's team dropped a 4-1 decision against the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan.  On the women's side, the Tigers fell to the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan, 4-0, before defeating the Foresters of Huntington University, 4-2. 

On the men's side, the Tigers faced a tough Wildcats' side. In doubles play, Alex Verdu and Francisco Faria defeated IWU's Jeremias Rocco and Josh Turnquest, 6-2.  That proved to be the only win for the Tigers as the Wildcats took the point in doubles.  In singles play, Verdu carried his momentum from doubles to singles as he defeated Turnquest.  Unfortunately, the Tigers fell to the Wildcats, 4-1. 

On the women's side, the Tigers picked up their only win of the match in the third doubles matchup as newcomer Chieh-Yu Chen and Nirva Patel took out the team of Kayla Doberger and Ellie Saider, 7-6.  In the match against Huntington, the Tigers found their footing at the beginning of the doubles match as the team of Narjis Mzibri and Heidi Moyo took their match, 6-2.  That was the lone doubles win for the Tigers as the Forester took a 1-0 lead going into singles play. 

In singles play, Mzibri started off defeating Morgan Fitzpatrick in three sets. Then, newcomers Anja Mijailovic and Mara Guillen Perez along with Nirva Patel all won in straight sets.  Patel's win solidified a 4-2 victory for the Tigers over the Foresters.
