CHICAGO – The Olivet Nazarene University men's tennis team traveled to Roosevelt University for its final CCAC road contest on Tuesday. The Tigers took down the Lakers, 6-1.
The Tigers saw their success begin in doubles play as the team of Francisco Faria and Brian Victoria Ayala shut out the Lakers 6-0, while Carlos Gomez and Juan Diaz Banuls edged Kendrick Chang and Hamza Shaikh, 7-6 (7-2 tiebreak). The Tigers won the always critical first point of the match.
The Tigers got off to a great start in singles play as well. Faria followed up his dominant doubles' performance into singles play as he won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. Davi Toledo had the most impressive performance as he defeated Eloin Dunwoody, 6-0, 6-0.
Gomez and Carlo Cota Vargas also won in straight sets as ONU moved to 3-2 in the CCAC with a 6-1 win over Roosevelt.
