TAVARES AND KASAP SWEEP CCAC TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University men's track and field athletes Ben Tavares and Austin Kasap were awarded Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Track and Field Athletes of the week.  The leagues announced their selections on Thursday.

 

A sophomore from Monee, Ill., Tavares earned his first career CCAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction.  In the Walter Cramer Invitational, Tavares took first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.55 seconds, which is currently the fifth fastest time in the conference.  Additionally, Tavares' 4x400-meter relay team took second in the race with a time of 3:20.87, which is currently the second fastest in the conference. 

 

A senior from Germantown Hills, Ill., Kasap earned his first career-CCAC Field Athlete of the Week distinction.  In the Walter Cramer Invitational, Kasap took first in the weight throw with a mark of 16.88 meters.  Additionally, Kasap won the shot put with a mark of 14.91 meters.  Kasap's weight throw mark gave him a B-standard for Indoor Nationals and is currently the best mark in the CCAC. 

 

The Tigers travel to Allendale, Mich. for the Grand Valley Big Meet on Friday, February 11th through Saturday, February 12.  The Tigers also travel to North Central College for the Pat Hennan Track and Field Invitational on Saturday, February 12.  Please visit onutigers.com for more information regarding these two meets.
