ONU WOMEN'S SWIM AND DIVE FLOURISHES AT THE BETHEL UNIVERSITY TOURNAMENT

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Olivet Nazarene University women's swim and dive team travelled to the Bethel tournament at the Elkhart Aquatics Center on Saturday.  The Tigers took down Lincoln College, 203-53, DePauw, 150-106, and tournament host Bethel, 162-103.

 

The Tigers kicked off the quad with a win in the 400-yard medley relay.  The team of Paige Howell, Megan Schroeder, Halle Briner, and Allison Pearson came out on top in this event.  Briner then carried her momentum into the 200-yard freestyle with a win with a time of 1:57.50.  Howell, also a finisher in the 400-yard medley relay, won the 100-backstroke finishing with a time of 58.34.  Schroeder and Julie Vega then finished first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke. 

 

Howell continued her impressive day picking up another win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.56, which is nearly nine second in front of second place.  Maylee Lingle finished in third in the race.  Schroeder, Pearson, and Vega then swept the top three positions in the 200-yard breaststroke as they clocked in times of 2:23.66, 2:24.15, and 2:28.79, respectively.  Ashley Parry picked up her first win of the day in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.16.  Pearson then won the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:38.58. 

 

The Tigers ended the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the Tigers ran past the competition for the meet win.

The Tigers are ranked second in the NAIA according to Swimcloud.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

The Tigers host the annual Toby the Tiger Invitational on Friday and Saturday, November 12-13.  The meet on Friday will start at 4 p.m. and Saturday will start at 10 a.m.
