NO. 2 TIGERS TAKE DOWN THE THUNDER ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON

WHEATON, Ill. – The No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University women's swimming and dive team traveled to NCAA Division Three opponent Wheaton College for a Saturday afternoon dual.  The Tigers defeated the Thunder, 158-87.

 

The Tigers saw 11 first-place finishes and nine second-place finishes on the day.  The first, first-place finish was at the start of the meet when the team of Paige Howell, Megan Schroeder, Ashley Parry, and Allison Pearson won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.63.  Halle Briner then followed that up with a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.37.  Marcail McBride and Carley Logan finished second and third.  Howell then won the 100-yard backstroke and Pearson won the 100-yard breaststroke.  Helina Reyes then continued the success for the Tigers as she beat out 14 other swimmers to win the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.95.

 

Parry then took first place in the 100-yard freestyle while Pearson and McBride finished second and third.  Howell then continued her impressive day in the pool with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke and Logan captured the 500-yard freestyle title.  Parry, Julie Vega, and Reyes then took the first three spots in the 100-yard butterfly.  The Tigers were not done yet as Briner and Vega touched the pad first and second in the 200-yard IM. 

 

The Tigers finished the meet with claiming the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay as they easily won the dual, 158-87.
