ONU HOCKEY CAPTURES FIRST DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP IN PROGRAM HISTORY

Glenview, Ill. — The Olivet Nazarene University Tigers made program history Friday night, earning their first division championship with a dominant 11–1 victory over Loyola University Chicago.

In just the fourth season of competition, Olivet finished MACHA North Division play with an impressive 8–2 record. The Tigers led the division offensively with 57 goals scored while allowing only 21 goals against — the fewest in the division. Northern Illinois University finished second at 7–2–1.

Friday's title-clinching win featured standout performances from Tommy Murray III and Carter Sailer, who each recorded hat tricks. Ryan Sullivan secured the victory between the pipes as the Tigers improved to 20–7–1 overall on the season.

With the division title, Olivet advances to the eight-team, single-elimination MACHA Tournament, taking place February 19–21 in St. Louis, Mo. The Tigers will open tournament play against Dordt University on Friday at 2:15 p.m. at the Maryville University Hockey Center.

The MACHA North Division includes Olivet Nazarene University, Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University, Marian University (Wis.), Loyola University Chicago, and Bradley University.
