CHICAGO, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's Caleb Corro used a career-high scoring effort to claim his second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award this season, the league office announced on Tuesday morning.
A career-best 32-point performance to open the week on Wednesday fueled the award for Corro. He did so in a 107-103 decision over Calumet College of St. Joseph, where he went 8-of-14 from the field, 3-of-6 from three-point range and 13-of-15 at the foul line. He also provided three assists and a pair of rebounds.
The junior guard added another 18 points with six rebounds, three assists and one block in a 79-72 setback to Saint Xavier University on Saturday.
For the two games combined, Corro averaged 25.0 points per game aided by shooting marks of 51.7 percent overall (15-of-29), 40 percent from three-point range (6-of-15) and 82.4 percent at the charity stripe. That boosted his season scoring average to 19.8 points per game, which ranks second in the league.
Corro also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists for the week.
Olivet Nazarene's 1-1 week put the Tigers at 5-5 in league play and 7-11 overall.
