ONU OVERWHELMS MOODY BIBLE 111-69 IN HOMECOMING ROUT

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Olivet Nazarene University men's basketball dominated Moody Bible Institute 111-69 at McHie Arena on Friday night, with the Tigers scoring 56 points in the paint and forcing 23 turnovers in front of the homecoming crowd.

The Tigers opened the game with strong offensive play and quickly established a lead. Andrew Bennett's early layup, assisted by Keagen Holder's steal, set the tone. Midway through the half, Mason Wood's back-to-back 3-pointers further extended the lead. Trent Rayborn and Holder also contributed from beyond the arc, maintaining the scoring momentum. As the half closed, Jonny Dickson added to the score with a layup in the final minute. and the home team entered the break with a commanding 67-34 lead. The Tigers finished the first half shooting 73% (27-37) from the field and 41.7% (8-17) from three.  

In the second half, the Tigers built on their strong first-half performance. After trading several baskets early on, a Will Baden slam and Dylan Fey layup pushed the lead over the 40 point mark with 10:57 remaining in the game. Olivet reached their largest lead of the game at the 5:40 mark after a layup by Luke Braman. The Tigers finished the game with a 44-35 advantage in the second half and outrebounded the Archers 28-15 in the frame.

Wood led the team with 21 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field, and added two steals. Rayborn contributed 17 points, including five 3-pointers, while also recording a block and a steal. Holder chipped in 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting, along with four assists and three steals. Edwards secured a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, converting seven of nine field goal attempts. 

After the exhibition win, the Tigers will now prepare for their regular season opener on Nov. 1 when they host Great Lakes Christian (Mich.) at 4pm in McHie Arena.
