MEN'S GOLF FINISHES AS THE RUNNER-UP AT THE CCAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

SILVIS, Ill. – The Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team competed in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships on Monday and Tuesday at TPC Deere Run.  The Tigers finished as the runner-up by 10 strokes.  Roosevelt won the event for the second-straight season. 

 

The Tigers saw each of its five team members break into the top 20 in day one of the championships.  Leading the charge for the Tigers was freshman Caleb Stinespring. Stinespring led the field with a score of -1 after 36 holes.  The Rockford, Ill. native was only one of two golfers that went under par in a round in the field.  Kyle Spence followed behind marking a +2 (74-70) and Conor Butts carded a first day total of +7 (75-74).  Jordan Evans and Jack Busch followed for the Tigers.  The Tigers found themselves in first-place in the first day of play.

 

In day two, the Tigers saw three of its five golfers land inside the top 10.  Stinespring, who was the clubhouse leader, shot a final round 81 and finished in tied for fifth.  Spence also finished in tied for fifth when he carded a final round 78.  Butts then followed close behind and shot a final round 75 and finished in eighth place.  Evans and Busch finished the tournament in tied for 22nd and tied for 29th, respectively. 

 

Spence and Stinespring earn All-Tournament team honors as the Tigers were the conference runner-up.
