PEORIA, Ill. – In one of the largest fields of the season, the Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team took 11th place at the Cougar Spring Preview played at WeaverRidge Golf Club Saturday and Sunday.
Chris Brown was the top Tigers as he tied for ninth overall. The sophomore started with a one-over 73 Saturday before tapering off with a 77 Sunday to finish with a 150. It was the second consecutive meet Brown led the ONU contingent.
The next five Tigers all finished within three strokes of one another. Jack Busch showcased his consistency with consecutive rounds of 80 to land in a tie for 42nd. Mason Uden (81-80) and Hunter Trainer (79-82) finished one shot back at 161 to tie for 47th.
Jack Rimington (83-79=162) and Luke Martin (84-79=163) both took multiple strokes off their second rounds to place 54th and 60th, respectively. Joseph Luchtenburg carded rounds of 84 and 80 for a 166 to tie for 74th.
ONU carded consistent rounds of 316 and 318 to fire a 634 and place 11th in the 18-team event. Host-school Illinois Central took the team title at 585.
The Tigers will host their first tournament of the spring season with the Conference Clash at Rend Lake beginning Monday.
