ONU FINISHES RUNNER-UP AT HOME TOURNAMENT

WILMINGTON, Ill. – A pair of top-10 finishes propelled the Olivet Nazarene University men's golf team to a runner-up placement at their home meet, the Clash at Cinder, Monday and Tuesday at the Cinder Ridge Golf Course.

Jack Busch and Luke Martin finished in a tie for ninth place overall, both carding a 157 across the 36-hole event. The former opened with a 79 Monday before improving to a 78 on Tuesday, while the latter improved by three strokes on his second round with an 80-77 to reach the mark.

Jack Rimington was just one stroke behind his teammates, firing the team's best round of the tournament with a 76 on the first day before closing with an 82 for an 11th place finish at 158. Chris Brown rounded out the ONU scoring with consecutive rounds of 81 to tie for 20th.

The Tigers carded rounds of 315 and 318 for a final score of 633, good for second place at the nine-team tournament. They were just eight shots back of the tournament-winner Bethel (Ind.) at 625.

ONU fielded a second team at their home tournament. Connor Banks led that squad with a 160 (82-78). Austin Marcier was just one stroke back at 161 (82-79). Joseph Luchtenburg, Mason Uden, and Connor Schaafsma also competed for the Tigers.

The Purple & Yellow Gold will now compete in the Missouri Baptist Invitational at the Spencer T. Olin Golf Course beginning Monday.
