ROME, Ga. – Olivet Nazarene University men's tennis player Francisco Faria competed in the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup this past weekend on the campus of Berry College.
Faria got off to a great start to his first match defeating Thomas Zych of McPherson College, 7-5, 7-5. In his next match, the Tiger senior was matched up with Yassir Kilani of Keiser University and won 6-3, 6-4. In his Semifinal match, Faria faced off against Jeremias Rocco of Indiana Wesleyan. Faria went on to take down Rocco and advanced to finals.
Faria was matched up with Agustin Tamagnone of Georgia Gwinnett in the finals. After dropping the first set, Faria came back and won the second set 6-4. Tamagnone went on to take down Faria in the third set, 7-5 to win the Championship.
This is the farthest a Tiger has gone in the ITA Cup in school history.
The Tigers will look forward to their Spring season starting in February of 2022.
