BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Olivet Nazarene University's (ONU) women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw at home against the Cougars of Saint Xavier University on Tuesday. The Tigers staged a strong second-half comeback to take the lead late, but a last-minute equalizer from Saint Xavier forced the game to end in a tie.
The first half was tightly contested, with both teams pressing hard but struggling to break through. Just before the halftime whistle, Saint Xavier managed to strike in the 45th minute, giving them a 1-0 advantage as ONU headed into the break, looking for answers and a path to equalize.
The Tigers came out in the second half with renewed energy. Their efforts were rewarded in the 64th minute when Hannah Dela Vega scored the tying goal, assisted by Skylar Bos, leveling the score at 1-1. ONU continued to press, and in the 87th minute, Aaliyah Racadio-Kahoohanohano found the back of the net with a well-placed finish, assisted by Melea Miller, putting the Tigers up 2-1. However, the Cougars responded swiftly, netting a dramatic equalizer in the 89th minute. Despite ONU's best efforts in the closing moments, the game ended in a draw.
Looking Ahead
ONU will hit the road for their next conference match against the Eagles of Judson University on Oct. 19th, with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m. CST. The Tigers will look to bounce back and secure a victory as they continue their conference campaign.
