WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Back in the national tournament for the third consecutive season, the Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team will take on Hastings (Neb.) in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament First Round Thursday. The league office announced the first- and second-round brackets in a selection show Saturday afternoon.
The matchup represents Game 1 of the Williamsburg Bracket, which will be played at the UC Soccer Complex on the University of the Cumberlands campus in Williamsburg, Ky. The First Round game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. CST.
The Tigers qualified for the postseason tournament as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) regular-season and tournament runner-up. They enter the national tournament with a 9-5-6 overall record and are making their 13th NAIA National Tournament appearance under head coach Bill Bahr since 2001.
Hastings won the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) regular-season crown with an unblemished 8-0-3 league record before not allowing a single goal in winning the GPAC Tournament title to earn their automatic bid to nationals. The Broncos hold a 15-1-5 record and haven't suffered a defeat in 16 games.
Thursday's winner will advance to the NAIA's Second Round, where they will face defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Cumberlands Saturday afternoon at the aforementioned UC Soccer Complex.
